Golf 2010/08/26GOLF COMMISSION MINUTES August 26, 2010 — 5:00 p.m. Anaheim Hills Golf Course — Clubhouse Boardroom COMMISSIONERS PRESENT COMMISSIONERS ABSENT CITY STAFF PRESENT: VALLEY CREST PRESENT: CALL TO ORDER Chairman Don Heinbuch Vice Chairman John McCulloch Commissioner Patty Gaby Commissioner Bud Schultz Commissioner Skip Keys Michael Lautenbach, Dave Johansen, Bob Johns and Eleanor Granflor Kevin Neal, Regional Golf Course Superintendent Chairman Heinbuch called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. PUBLIC COMMENTS - None to report. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner Schultz made a Motion to approve the July 22, 2010 Minutes. Motion was seconded by Vice Chairman McCulloch. Motion passed. ACTIVITY REPORTS A. Golf Superintendent Michael Lautenbach presented his report and stated: • Golf marshals are surveying customers how they heard about the golf course. • Golf course maintenance five (5) year contract for both golf courses will go to bid next week; specifications will remain the same. Commissioner Schultz asked for a status on the course restroom at Anaheim Hills Golf Course. Michael Lautenbach stated men's restroom was painted, new flooring will be installed, and new sinks and parts for the toilets have been ordered. Commissioner Schultz stated members of the Anaheim Hills Golf Club mentioned that Anaheim Hills Golf Course has had very wet grass. Michael Lautenbach stated grass tends to be in this condition in the early morning due to watering and morning dew but staff will keep an eye on it. B. Golf Course Superintendent Dave Johansen presented his report. C. Director of Golf — None to report FINANCIAL REPORT Michael Lautenbach stated rounds and revenues are down at both golf courses. Golf Commission Minutes August 26, 2010 Page Two OLD BUSINESS Michael Lautenbach stated that many positive comments were received regarding the switching of the starting holes at Anaheim Hills Golf Course. Michael stated in order to allow for more flexibility with the starting holes in the future, staff is proposing to have two "9 -hole courses" rather than just holes 1- 18; this layout will allow staff to switch starting holes at any given time. Commissioners Gaby, Vice Chairman McCulloch and Chairman Heinbuch agreed with this idea. Commissioner Schultz wanted to discuss the proposal with other players. This item will be discussed again at the September 23, 2010 meeting. NEW BUSINESS A. Golf Outing Commissioner Gaby made a Motion to move the Commission Golf Outing to October 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Motion was seconded by Vice Chairman McCulloch. Motion passed. ADJOURNMENT Vice Chairman McCulloch made a Motion, seconded by Commissioner Gaby, to adjourn the meeting to September 23, 2010 at 5:00 p.m., at Anaheim Hills Golf Course, Clubhouse Board Room. The Motion passed. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:27 p.m.
