Golf 2010/05/27GOLF COMMISSION MINUTES May 27, 2010 — 5:00 p.m. Dad Miller Golf Course — Clubhouse Board Room COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: COMMISSIONERS ABSENT CITY STAFF PRESENT: VALLEY CREST PRESENT: CALL TO ORDER Chairman Skip Keys Vice Chairman Don Heinbuch Commissioner Patty Gaby Commissioner John McCulloch Commissioner Bud Schultz Michael Lautenbach, Dave Johansen, Bob Johns and Eleanor Granflor Kevin Neal, Regional Golf Course Superintendent Chairman Keys called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. PUBLIC COMMENTS - None to report. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES Commissioner McCulloch made a Motion to approve the April 22, 2010 Minutes. Motion was seconded by Commissioner Gaby. Motion passed. ACTIVITY REPORTS A. Golf Superintendent Michael Lautenbach presented his report. B. Golf Course Superintendent Dave Johansen presented his report. C. Director of Golf Bob Johns presented his report. Bob Johns stated 90 players participated in the 2010 Anaheim City Golf Championship. Bob Johns stated both courses were in great condition for the event and customers had only positive comments about the golf courses and the tournament. FINANCIAL REPORT Michael Lautenbach stated a slight improvement compared to prior months. Rounds increased at Anaheim Hills Golf Course and decreased less than in prior months at Dad Miller Golf Course. Michael stated this trend seems to continue through May. Golf Commission Minutes May 27, 2010 Page Two Commissioner Gaby questioned if the decrease in rounds at Dad Miller relates to the current problems with Savanna High School students loitering on the golf course. Michael Lautenbach stated this is possible but golf staff is working with staff from the Anaheim Union High School District to solve this problem. Vice Chairman Heinbuch questioned if twilight rounds are included in the total rounds. Michael Lautenbach stated all twilight rounds are included in the total count of rounds for each golf course. Vice Chairman Heinbuch questioned how much additional business members of the new Club at Anaheim Hills have brought to the course. Michael Lautenbach stated he will present numbers at the next meeting. OLD BUSINESS - None to report. NEW BUSINESS Michael Lautenbach stated a new project will start on the 15 hole at Dad Miller Golf Course. Multiple trees and bushes will be added to the left side of the fairway helping to protect residents' homes along the hole. Michael stated this project will cost less than $15,000. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner McCulloch made a Motion, seconded by Vice Chairman Heinbuch, to adjourn the meeting to June 24, 2010 at 5:00 p.m., at Anaheim Hills Golf Course, Clubhouse Board Room. The Motion passed. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
