AHA2007/05/08ANAHEIM HOUSING AUTHORITY MEETING OF MAY 8, 2007 The Anaheim Housing Authority met in the Chambers of the Anaheim City Hall located at 200 South Anaheim Boulevard. PRESENT: Chairman Curt Pringle, Authority Members: Lord Galloway, Bob Hernandez, Lucille Kring and Harry Sidhu STAFF PRESENT: City Manager David Morgan, City Attorney Jack White, Secretary, Linda Nguyen A copy of the agenda for the meeting of the Anaheim Housing Authority was posted on May 4, 2007 on the kiosk outside City Hall. Chairman Pringle called the meeting to order at 5:24 P.M. in the Council Chambers of Anaheim City Hall, 200 South Anaheim Boulevard for a joint public comment session with the Redevelopment Agency and the City Council. ADDITIONS /DELETIONS TO THE AGENDA: None PUBLIC COMMENTS: No comments offered during the Joint Housing Authority /Council/ Redevelopment Agency comment session related to the Housing Authority agenda. At 5:32 P.M., Chairman Pringle recessed the Housing Authority and the City Council meeting to consider the Redevelopment Agency agenda, reconvening the Authority meeting at 5:33 P.M. CONSENT CALENDAR: Authority Member Galloway removed Item No. 3 from the consent calendar for further discussion. Authority Member Hernandez moved to approve the Consent Calendar (Item No. 4), seconded by Authority Member Kring. Roll Call vote: Ayes - 5; Chairman Pringle, Authority Members: Galloway, Hernandez, Kring and Sidhu. Noes - 0. Motion Carried 4. Approve the minutes of the Housing Authority regular adjourned meeting of March 20, 2007. End of Consent: 3. Approve and authorize the submittal of an application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for $127,292 under a Notice of Funding Availability for two existing Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Family Self- Sufficiency Program Coordinators, authorize the Executive Director to execute the required certifications and application documents, and amend the FY 2007 -08 budget accordingly. Authority Member Galloway asked for statistics on the number of families helped in FY 2006/07 and the number of participants in the Self- Sufficiency Program. Elisa Stipkovich, Community Development Director, responded that she believed there were approximately May 8, 2007 Page 2 150 participants in the Self Sufficiency Program adding that staff was seeking to expand on that number. Authority Member Hernandez remarked that the Self- Sufficiency Program was another example of how well the City of Anaheim serves its citizens. This program, he emphasized, was not a hand -out but a hand -up for individuals receiving housing assistance to provide opportunities for education, job training, and counseling specifically for the participants to achieve economic independence. He then moved to approve Item No. 3, seconded by Authority Member Galloway. Roll Call vote: Ayes - 5; Chairman Pringle, Authority Members: Galloway, Hernandez, Kring and Sidhu. Noes - 0. Motion Carried Adjournment: There being no further business, Chairman Pringle adjourned the Anaheim Housing Authority meeting at 5:36 P.M. to reconvene the Anaheim City Council meeting.
